Meet Norbin Nibbleweed the orange bearded gnome! You’ll have to excuse Norbin if he’s a bit bashful at times. Like his other gnome friends he prefers to be hidden deep in the forest working in his wood shop, tending to his garden, and digging underground among earth’s treasures.

Norbin’s fiery orange beard makes him quite a bit less elusive than his other white bearded gnome friends. While he’s very aware of his differences he has learned to embrace and enjoy his uniqueness, even when he’s mistaken as being a leprechaun. He doesn’t mind because he’s quite a fan of Saint Patrick’s Day too!

The Crochet Gnome is great for gifts, play, decor, and decoration.

PATTERN INFORMATION

  • Your PDF purchase includes written instructions and a photo tutorial.
  • The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology.
  • The skill level needed is intermediate (but ambitious beginners are always encouraged to try!).
  • The techniques you will need to know are the chain, single crochet, slip stitch, half double crochet, increase, invisible decrease, working in the front loop and back loop only, how to change colors in the round, the crab stitch, and the adjustable ring.
  • To complete the Crochet Gnome you will need yarn in your choice of colors (about 227 yds total in worsted), a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, stitch markers, tapestry needle, stuffing, pins, scissors, chopstick to help stuff, and an optional pet slicker brush if you want to brush the beard.
  • The finished Crochet Gnome measures approximately 4.5 inches tall in the sitting position without the hat and approximately 8 inches tall in the sitting position wearing the hat (not including the legs).
