Born and raised in a warm climate, I had never encountered icicles as a child.
I first saw them in a picture book about gnomes travelling through a winter forest.
I wanted to design a shawl based on my memories of that book, and the icicles turned out fluffy and warm…
The pattern contains written instructions and charts. The cable pattern is charted only.
Although the shawl is rather small, it can be easily modified for a larger result.

Gauge (after blocking):
17 sts and 25 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette stitch
32 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in cable pattern
Suggested Needles:
US 7 / 4.5 mm 32” / 80 cm or longer circular needle
Adjust needle size as needed to achieve gauge.
