Learn colorwork crochet on cute little gnomes!

If you make these squares out of 100% cotton yarn, they can be used as dish-drying mats, hot pan coasters, potholders, or placemats. Just change your yarn weight and hook to get different finished sizes.

This pattern includes charts for 6 different gnomes. I personally prefer to use BLO crochet for my crochet colorwork projects, but you could use these charts for any stitch that requires square stitches. I have several options detailed on my website.

Each stitch will take a different amount of yarn, and each crocheter is very different. Please read the blog posts and pattern instructions to calculate how much yarn you will need. The sample square with a border is approximately 12.5x14.5in. I made both squares from the same skeins of yarn (one of each color).
