Go Canada Toque
I LOVE everything Winter Olympics – this is a tribute to both Team Canada and more broadly to winter sports. It’s designed with a stretchy brim in double rib that you fold up and uses DK yarn.
I knit mine with a Canadian yarn from indie dyer The Frosted Stitch, but you can use any DK you like with an equivalent yardage (223m/246yds per 100g).
I have done the leaves in stranded knitting (the extra layer adds a bit of warmth!) For the stem section and single stitch at the top I recommend either catching your floats (the pattern has a basic video tutorial) or adding these elements on at the end using duplicate stitch to avoid the longer floats altogether.
The top features a round of winter sports “icons” (curling, hockey, skating and snow sports) which fits around the top 3x. If you’re comfortable with reading charts and doing your own math, you can also choose one or a mix of these to customize your hat.
