Go West Cardigan features a deep V-neck, lace pattern and diagonal ridges. The design has a cropped fit with batwing sleeves – the length can easily be adjusted as it is worked from the top down.
Stitches are cast on for one side of the back, where increases are worked towards the neck while additional stitches are cast on in stages using the loop cast-on method towards the sleeve – allowing the back and sleeve to be worked in one piece. The other side of the back is worked in the same way, and the two sides are joined by casting on stitches at the back of the neck. The entire wingspan of the cardigan is now gathered on one needle and worked back and forth while the sleeves are shaped. Stitches are cast off in stages along the underside of the sleeve, followed by a series of decreases that shape the end of the batwing sleeve. The fronts are worked in the same way, while the V-neck is also shaped. The fronts and back are then joined, and the body is worked back and forth and finished with an edge in twisted rib. The fronts and back are sewn or crocheted together along the seams on the underside and upper side of the sleeves – across the shoulder.
Stitches are then picked up around the neck and front opening and along the lower edges of the sleeves. The sleeves are finished with edges in twisted rib, and the plackets are worked in double knitting.
Choice of size
Due to the batwing sleeves, the bust circumference is not relevant when choosing a size. Instead, the design is intended to fit closely at the lower edge, which means that you should choose a size that is as close to your hip measurement as possible. If your hip measurement is 98 cm, you should choose size M with a waist circumference of 98 cm.
