Inspired by the clean lines of a modern quilt, this graphic blanket is a good beginner pattern, or a relaxing, mindful project for the more experienced knitter.

Working the blanket in one piece (hello, toasty lap!), you’ll pick up stitches to knit mitered garter squares. Measurements are given for a worsted weight blanket in three sizes (see below), but the pattern can be easily adapted to different yarn weights and you can make it as big (or small) as you like. How about trying a fingering weight cushion cover?

An option is also given for knitting in blocks and then seaming, perfect for your knitting group’s next joint blanket project.

When knit at the gauge specified, the pattern will yield a blanket in the following size:
Stroller, 24”x24”/60cmx60cm
Crib, 37”x37”/94cmx94cm
Afghan, 57”x57”/146cmx146cm

To make a blanket in the sizes above, you will need worsted or heavy DK weight yarn in the following quantities:
Stroller: 410 yards/375m of MC, 210 yards/190m of CC
Crib: 900 yards/820m of MC, 575 yards/525m of CC
Afghan: 1970 yards/1800m of MC, 1470 yards/1350m of CC
