You can use any size of yarn for this pattern just use a hook that’s a little smaller than the recommended size. I used worsted weight yarn with a 3.5mm hook.

You’ll need at most 100m of black yarn for hair. I’m not sure of the exact lengths since the balls of yarn I had were 147m and I didn’t use a single one of them fully.

Just make sure you have a skin tone, orange, blue, black and a very small amount of yellow yarn.

The entire project is made with single crochet stitches.

The hair is tied to the head by inserting your hook through one stitch and back out through another, grab the middle of a 5” piece of black yarn and draw a loop back through the Stitch’s. FO by pulling both ends of yarn through the loop. Do this a couple hundred times to achieve floofy hair.

To make the hair naturally stand up better insert your hook into a stitch that is closer to the top of the head and up through an adjacent stitch that is closer to the bottom of the head. Doing it this way causes the loop to hold in the ends of yarn in an upward angle.
