Gordian Knot Socks
Long ago an oracle declared that any man who could unravel the elaborate Gordian knot was destined to become the ruler. It was said that Alexander the Great tried and failed until he cut it in half with his sword. Bottom line, sometimes success depends on thinking outside the box…
Sock features include toe-up construction, rounded or anatomical toe, lace and cable stitch pattern, full gusset and heel flap.
SIZE | Small (Medium, Large)
Choose size based circumference at ball of foot: ~ 8 (9, 10) inches; ~ 20 (23, 25) cm. Sock pattern written with negative ease. The sock has moderate to generous stretch. Total stitches: foot and leg 60 (68, 72).
GAUGE |Stockinette in the round, ~9 sts, 13 rows per inch (~3.5 sts, 5.1 rows per cm).
MATERIALS AND TOOLS
Yarn | 1 skein Fingering Weight sock yarn - (~400-425 yds, 366-389 m/100g) Not exact amount. Yardage will vary based on size of sock and the length of leg.
Needles | Pattern written for 2 mm circular needles. The pattern can be worked using 2 circular needles, Magic Loop, or double points.
Other | 3 stitch markers
Difficulty - intermediate - experience with toe-up construction, reading charts, lacework, and cables.
