Gorges Shawl
Looking for crochet shawl patterns with gradient yarns? The Gorges Shawl is crocheted using Alga, a blend of organic cotton, bamboo viscose and SeaCell (a seaweed yarn fibre), giving it a soft hand-feel and a gentle drape that makes it an easy lightweight throw for warmer days.
Skill level: Adventurous beginner to intermediate
Yarn: 2 skeins of Alga (organic cotton, bamboo viscose, SeaCell)
Construction: Front loop and back loop only stitches turn each gradient colour change into a ridge, a textured front face and a smoother reverse side
Finished size: approximately 160cm wide x 77cm deep, after wet blocking
Inspired by the gorges of Karijini National Park in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, this shawl pays tribute to the Banjima, Innawongka and Eastern Guruma peoples, the traditional custodians of the land.
If you’ve been searching for what to make with Alga yarn or what to make with seaweed yarn, this is a good place to start. The colour banding and texture work together row by row to create something beautiful.
This pattern is also included in a kit on the Fancy Yarns website: https://www.fancyyarns.com.au/product-page/gorges-shawl-k...
