Gorteen Shawl
About:
Named for Gorteen, the “little field” of Connemara, this shawl is a soft nod to small places that hold big stories right at the edge of the sea. Textured panels trace planted rows across the land, while calm stretches of stockinette open into meadow and the low grasslands behind Gurteen Bay. Pale pink yarn catches the last light over stone and sand—as if the sky were blushing over the fields before slipping into the Atlantic. Wrapped around your shoulders, the Gorteen Shawl becomes a quiet companion for slow evenings by the shore and the faint promise of a tune carried on the wind.
Looking for a project that keeps your hands interested without demanding too much? This shawl balances textured sections with restful garter and stockinette—the perfect combination when you need to take time just for you.
Written in one size, this classic worsted-weight triangle—with both written and charted directions—is perfect for a confident beginner but interesting enough to keep advanced knitters happily engaged.
