Gothic Coffin Socks

Add a little gothic darkness to your sock drawer with Gothic Coffin Socks, a striking colourwork design featuring repeating coffin motifs decorated with tiny crucifixes. Perfect for Halloween, gothic wardrobes, and knitters who like their handmade socks on the darker side, these socks make a wonderfully atmospheric project.

The coffin motif can be worked all the way around the leg and foot for a bold statement, or you can choose the simpler option of working the design once around the ankle, leaving the rest of the sock plain. Optional contrasting cuff, heel and toe details give you plenty of opportunity to create your own colour combination.

These socks are knit top-down in Drops Fabel (4ply) using 2.25mm circular needles and the magic loop method, with a German short row heel and adjustable foot length. The pattern includes five sizes (XS, S, M, L and XL) and clear colourwork charts. With a relatively small repeating motif, they’re an enjoyable project for knitters who love stranded colourwork without an overly complicated chart.
