Gothic Spires Afghan
Do you love crocheted cables and are ready to create an absolutely stunning blanket? If so, the Gothic Spires Crochet Afghan Pattern is a must have!
This intermediate crochet pattern features lines of crossing cables that veer inward and outward from bottom to top, making an intricate and beautiful final display reminiscent of the spires featured in gothic architecture.
Much of the pattern is a matter of repeating specific rows at different times to create the geometric design. PLEASE NOTE: This is an intermediate crochet pattern. IT’S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE READING WRITTEN CROCHET PATTERNS WITH STANDARD ABBREVIATIONS. (The pattern is written in US crochet terminology with a glossary of abbreviations included as well as instructions for the more advanced fpdc and fptr stitches.) Stitches included are sc, dc, fpdc, fptr, and chain spaces. Prior practice and understanding of these stitches are recommended. Although no visual chart of the pattern is included, rows are color coded and the explanation of this color coding is provided to help you track your progress as well as to see the overall symmetry of the full design.
You will need approximately 3375 yards of a worsted weight yarn in the fiber of your choice to make a completed blanket that is 45x64”. You’ll also need a US-K 10.5/6.5mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, and scissors.
