A collaboration with Skein Yarns, Gothica Lace Wrap was born from my need to do striking lace with such a beautiful, dark tonal yarn. I had never worked with a colorway like “Graphite” before and knew it needed to be something dramatic to show it off. Dramatic yet alluring and very pretty. Gothica Lace Wrap begins with a provisional cast-on and is knitted flat. Framed with cabled faggoting on all four sides, this edgy Victorian style lace wrap is stunning!

Difficulty: Intermediate - the body of this Wrap is made up of k, p, k2tog, ssk, cabled faggoting, and CDD stitches. The Intermediate Label is because of the construction of the knitted-on lace edges. Gothica Lace Wrap is a great knit for both beginning knitters and experienced knitters alike.

Construction: Beginning with a Provisional Cast On, Gothica Lace Wrap is knit from one edge to the other. As you finish the body of the Wrap, you cast on additional stitches and knit the knitted-on lace edging. When the first Lace Edge is completed, you return to the provisional cast on, pick up all of the stitches here and repeat the same steps for the Knitted On Lace Border on this side.

Dimensions: 19 inches X 96 inches

Yardage: Approximately 1,200 yards; I used two skeins and about 30 grams of the third skein. I have added generous yardage estimates for loose knitters. You will most definitely need three skeins of fingering weight yarn to do this project.

The Solid Sterling Silver Penannular Shawl Pin seen in the third picture down was hand made by Silversmith Wayne Book and is from Mooncat Fiber in Taos, New Mexico and can be purchased there!
