Grace Cardigan
This delicate lace cardigan is worked all in one piece from the bottom up, which means fewer seams to sew – always a bonus!
The lace pattern is worked on the right side, with simple purl rows on the wrong side. I find this is the best way to knit lace – one row of focusing, then one row to relax. A lovely rhythm that makes the cardigan as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.
CONSTRUCTION
The back and two fronts are knitted in one piece from the bottom up until the armholes. The sleeves are knitted flat from the bottom up in pieces. The sleeves are joined to the main body. There is a neck edging to pick up and the picot edging is picked up and knitted once the cardigan is completed.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, purl, simple lace pattern, increasing on sleeves, picot edging, sewing on buttons. Joining sleeve seams. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch.
