This shawl is based on the counterpane that First Lady Grace Coolidge knit while in the White House. The counterpane is made out of squares. This shawl uses the beginning of one square, with additional increases and patterning to form a generous-sized triangular shawl worked from the bottom up, which allows the leaf pattern to sit at the point of the shawl, accenting the shaping.
