The Gradient Socks Knitting Pattern strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and flair. Designed to let gradient or lightly speckled yarns shine, this pattern brings just enough texture to keep your knitting fun while remaining wonderfully wearable.

Whether you use a single gradient skein or mix and match scraps, these socks are a joy to knit and even more fun to wear.

I created my pair using Katia Symmetric Socks & More – Degradé, which seamlessly blended the cuff stripes and toe without extra yarn. Would you like to replicate the look with a different yarn?

You’ll need four colors:

Colour A – cuff and toe (~ 20g)
Colour B – second cuff stripe (~ 10g)
Colour C – third cuff stripe (~ 10g)
Colour D – main body of the sock (~ 40g)

Perfect for stash-busting leftover yarns or showing off your favorite gradients.

Yarn: Fingering weight (~400 m / 100 g)
Gauge: 8 sts & 9 rows per 2 cm (≈ 9 sts & 12 rows per inch)
Needles: 2.25 mm (US 1) – long circular for Magic Loop or DPNs
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, measuring tape, stitch markers
