Grand Ours is a trendy, modern hat that plays with different materials and textures. It is knitted in the round from the bottom up without seams. You begin by knitting the double edge in stockinette stitch, then the upper part in ribbing and decreases. It is as cool to knit as it is to wear by the whole family! And as a bonus, the headband version.

The hat is designed to have approximately 4 inches or 10 cm of negative ease.
This means the finished hat/headband circumference will be about 4 inches or 10 cm smaller than your actual head measurement.
Child sizes 1 (2) 3 and adult sizes (S) M (L) are designed to fit head circumferences of 17-18 (18-20) 20-21.25 (21.25-22) 22-23 (23-24) inches or 43-46 (46-51) 51-54 (54-56) 56-58 (58-61) cm.

Before you begin, measure your head circumference to choose the correct size. If you are between sizes, choose the size that best suits you, depending on how you prefer to wear your hat, more or less fitted.
Sample are shown in adult size M.

GAUGE: 20 sts x 30 rows for 4 x 4 in or 10 x 10 cm in Stockinette st.

YARN: the hat is knitted with two yarn held together.
It can also be knitted with a single strand of DK/worsted yarn.

The bottom section and headband: one strand of Alpaca Bouclé from Drops (80% alpaca, 15% wool, 5% polyamide - 140 m = 50 g) and one strand of Alpaca from Drops (100 % alpaca - 167 m = 50g).

The top section: one strand of Surnaturelle from La Droguerie (100% wool - 175 m = 50 g) and one strand of Alpaca from Drops (100 % alpaca - 167 m = 50g).

MATERIALS: suggested circular needles 3.5 mm/US 4 with an 80 cm (32 inches) cable for the magic loop technique or minis and a 40 cm (16 inches) cable for knitting in the round or double-pointed needles, a tapestry needle and 1 stitch marker.

Techniques: 2/1 twisted ribbing, long tail cast-on, double edge, decreases.

Grand Ours est un bonnet au look tendance et actuel qui joue avec les différences de matières et textures. Il se tricote en rond de bas en haut sans coutures. On commence par tricoter le bord double en jersey puis la partie haute en côtes et des diminutions. Aussi cool à tricoter qu’à porter par toute la famille ! Et en bonus la version bandeau.

Le bonnet et le headband sont conçus pour avoir environ 10 cm d’aisance négative.
Cela signifie que la circonférence du tricot fini sera environ 10 cm plus petite que votre tour de tête réel.

Les tailles enfant 1 (2) 3 et adulte (S) M (L) sont conçues pour s’adapter à des tours de tête de 43-46 (46-51) 51-54 (54-56) 56-58 (58-61) cm.

Avant de commencer, mesurez votre tour de tête, pour choisir la taille adaptée. Si vous êtes entre deux tailles, choisissez la taille qui vous convient le mieux, selon la façon dont vous aimez porter votre bonnet, plus ou moins ajusté.
