DK weight yarn is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! I designed this cowl to use 2 skeins of DK yarn, which is perfect for yarn crawl/fiber festival shopping. Grab a tonal and a variegated, 2 tonals, or 2 skeins of the same color and commemorate your yarn crawl or fiber festival adventures with the Granite Crossing Cowl.

This piece uses about 70g of Color A (tonal in the sample) and about 80g of Color B (variegated in the sample). You could easily add another repeat of each section to use a little more yarn if you want.

Worked flat and seamed.

You will only use the US J/6 mm hook for the starting chain, to make sure it’s not too tight. You could also just use your US I/5.5 mm hook and chain loosely, but I find using a larger hook gives a cleaner look than trying to loosely chain with a smaller hook.

Designed in collaboration with Woolly Llama yarns in Minden, NV for the 2025 Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl.
