Color blocking with distinctive purled ridges give this stylish hat a v-cool edge. Can be worn loose or close-fitting. Great for guys and girls and using up those orphan skeins!

Two strands of fingering weight (sock) yarn are held together for the MC only, shown as black in photos. The grey yarns in the photos are DK weight. When knitting stockinette with either the two strands of sock-weight held together, or the DK knit with one strand of yarn, the gauge is the same: 5 stitches and 7 rounds per inch. I measured gauge after blocking.

You will need to cast on, knit, purl, knit two together, and make 1 (increase 1 stitch) for this pattern.

Notions: yarn needle, ruler or measuring tape, five stitch markers.
