To know which size is best for you, determine your chest size (by measuring the fullest part of your chest) and have a look at the chart below to determine your size. If you’re in between sizes, choose if you want to have a tighter fitting top (then size down) or a more relaxed fitting top (then size up).

To be sure your gauge is right, start with the crochet hook that corresponds to your size in the size chart and measure the first hexagon you finish, from one side to the opposite side. Consider that, depending on how tight or loose you normally crochet, your final hexagon may be slightly bigger or smaller compared to the indicated measurements below, even when using the same recommended yarn and hook number. If you get 0.5cm/0.2inch difference continue following the same instructions as for your desired size. If instead you get a much smaller or much bigger exagon, adjust your hook number by sizing it up or down respectively.

Note: Keep in mind that the sewing technique I explain in this pattern for joining the hexagons together reduces the stretch a bit. So I definitely do not recommend sizing down your hook if your sample hexagon is slightly bigger than mine (0.5cm/0.2inch smaller).
