This dress consists of basic granny squares with minor alterations joined together. This pattern may be more suitable for intermediate and expert crocheters. It has very detailed photo-tutorials.

I used two strands of fingering yarn held together for this project. I joined together strands of two different shades of yarn to bring out the ombre effect in the middle. I used 10 balls of white yarn and 6 balls of yellow yarn.

You can use DK yarn if you have an ombre shade for the inside of the granny square and plain shades for the outside parts. The stitches I used consist of granny squares, flat granny square stitch and single crochet stitches. The rows of single crochet are predominantly for bordering of the squares. This project may take some time especially with the many rows of single crochets. Be patient with yourself and play around with colors.

The project is measurements based and I did not do any blocking of the squares. However feel free to do blocking if you wish, it may give you a cleaner look.
