Any cotton yarn of 125 meters per 50 grams will work good for this pattern. But any yarn will work if you use the right size hook.

Gauge is not important, it can only mean that the bag will become a bit bigger or smaller. If you work with a multiple of 6 stitches you can make any size bag you want!
