These retro-style shorts are full of texture, color, and comfort. The Granny Stitch Shorts are worked in joined rounds from a ribbed waistband down, with fun alternating stripes and a playful ruffled edge. Designed for intermediate makers, the pattern includes instructions for six sizes (XS–2XL) and comes with special shaping at the back to help them stay up and sit right.

They pair perfectly with the Ruffle Me Up Top (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ruffle-me-up-top)
—a matching summer top that’s already available if you want to complete the set.

Notes

This pattern includes a full video tutorial linked on the front page for steps that are easier to show than tell.

You’ll start with the waistband, then work the hips in joined rounds, followed by the crotch and legs—also worked in joined rounds.
At the end, you’ll weave a crocheted chain through the waistband to help secure the shorts at your waist.

These shorts include special shaping at the back to make them more comfortable and better fitting. 4 rounds are added to the back hip area to create more depth. This helps the shorts sit higher in the back, giving you more room and preventing them from riding down when you move or sit.

At the end of each granny stitch round, don’t cut the yarn—just drop it and pick it back up when it’s time to use it again. You’ll alternate rounds in this order: yarn A, then yarn B, then yarn C, and repeat—A, B, C.

Ch 3 counts as a stitch.
