When I was seven years old, I was fortunate enough to learn to knit from one grandmother and crochet from the other. My grandmothers were each devoted to their respective crafts, and I’m grateful to have inherited their passion for yarn.

My grandmother who crocheted always carried peppermints in her purse, while my knitting grandmother could always be counted on for a jumbo pack of Fruit-Stripe gum. Their bags were like bottomless, magical vessels, always containing exactly what was needed, precisely when it was needed. Whether it was tissues for a runny nose, quarters for a gumball machine, or a snack to ward off hunger while shopping, they were always prepared.

With room for everything and then some, I think they both would have loved Granny’s Bag.
The marled colors flow beautifully as it’s worked from bottom to top, while its simple, tapering bucket shape and size make it roomy enough to hold all the necessities.
