This pattern produces an appliance cover sized to fit a standard-sized stand mixer (e.g., Sunbeam Mixmaster, Hamilton Beach Classic or Kitchen Aid Classic). The cover is knit in the round from the bottom up and finished with a Kitchener bind off along the top. The stranded construction allows for an extra thickness of yarn to keep the cover stiff enough to hold its shape over the mixer. This pattern is a sister design of Granny’s Fair Isle Tea Cosy.

Yarn: Rauma Vamsegarn is recommended, but any heavy Aran yarn could be substituted. Nearly equal amounts of MC and CC1 are needed, less than 2 skeins of each (aprox. 75 g each) and less than one skein of yarn (aprox. 40 g) for CC2 is needed.

Pattern Notes:

  • White the design generally uses no more than 2 colors per row, 5 rows include 3 colors of stranded colorwork.

  • The 5 rows of MC above and below of Chart C could be lessened or added to if height adjustments are needed for other brands of mixers.
