Granny's Tumbling Blocks
Granny’s Tumbling Blocks is a whimsical blanket based on an old-time quilt design that I have always loved. To make the blanket quicker to crochet, I’ve designed this blanket using hexagons instead of diamonds and included detailed join-as-you-go instructions.
Pattern includes 14 pages of detailed instructions, diagrams, and photos. This beloved pattern is all newly updated and retested for additional clarity and now includes border instructions.
Yarn needed: Worsted/Aran weight yarn, about 1800-2000 yards depending on size. uses approximately the same amount of each of C1, C2, & C3. Plus additional yardage for border.
Some color options include using one color for C3, using one color for each row of C3, or even making C3 scrappy.
Completed hexagons are about 5” across. Sample size using 9 hexagons across and 11 rows is about 42” x 54”. Completely adjustable sizing.
Getting an exact gauge is not important for this project, but your yarn choice and gauge will determine the finished size and affect yardage requirements.
