Gravity of color - now the cardigan!

When I designed my Gravity of color wrap, I already had in the back of my mind that there might be a sweater/ cardigan based on the same concept later – i.e. 4 colors, arranged from light to dark, with the darkest one at the bottom, and the same transition rows as for the wrap (consisting of all 4 colors), between the color blocks.

Here comes the cardigan version, for Winter and cold Spring days. It can be worked with overlapping open fronts or with a button band, whatever you prefer.

Overview
The cardigan is workedtop down, seamless, in the following order:
Step 1: With C1, work back neck part of collar (in two halves) in Seed stitch.
Step 2: Work fronts to underarm (in two halves), continuing the Seed stitch edges.
Step 3: Starting at the top, with C1, work back (beginning with short rows in Seed stitch) to underarm
Step 4: Join fronts and back.
Step 5: Work sleeves in color blocks of C2, C3 and C4, with transition rows to separate the color blocks
Step 6: Work lower bodyback and forth, in same color & transition row sequence as for sleeves.

Use a Fingering weight yarn which knits up to the specified gauge.

350-450m of color C1,
330-430m of C2,
330-430m of C3,
400-500m of C4
needed for the open front version (and about 10% less of C3 and C4 for the closed front version).

For my sample, I have used a combination of 3 yarns from Denmark, by Sanne Fjalland, Camilla Vad and G-Uld (all 100% New Zealand Uld, 450m/ 100g), at a gauge of 25-26 sts.

(Hints for gauges 23 and 21 sts on 10cm are included too.)

The pattern includes 6 sizes from XS to XXL, ranging from bust size 88 to 124 (including some ease).
