When I started knitting in early 2021, my mom repeatedly told me the story of how she would sit with my great-grandmother as a child and watch her knit. “Knit one, purl two. Knit one, purl two.”
It’s funny how sometimes the things that stick with us about family really aren’t always about the person at all. After starting knitting, I wanted to find patterns that would actively teach me how to
complete tasks and better read my knitting. Because when we teach crafts like this, I believe that it is almost more important to know how to read the knots than it is to know how to do them. Thus, this pattern is a funny marriage between an inside joke and a tribute to the teaching of hand crafts.
