“THE INSPIRATION for this cardigan was the lichen, mosses and stone that I have seen in the lanes near my home,” says Mary Henderson. “I wanted to create the feeling of fading in and out of colours, and the Spindrift yarn shades do this beautifully.” The body is worked in stranded colourwork, while the cropped sleeves use a lace rib pattern.

NOTES
The cardigan is knitted in the round from the bottom up to the armholes, with a steek in the centre front added after the lace rib
band is worked in rows. Sleeves are then joined together with the body to work the Fair Isle yoke, finishing with a lace rib neck
edging. Neaten the ends, securing ends either side of the steek. The button band is worked in moss stitch and the buttonhole
band in lace rib. The steek is enforced with crochet stitches, and then cut open.
Charts are worked in stocking stitch.
