This shawl is a special crescent construction using a combination of a half circle with additional wing shaping (similar to winged triangles).
No short rows of any kind are involved in the construction of this shawl.

Yarn Substitutions
Using solid or semi-solid yarn colors show the stitch pattern best.

Sturdy yarns, or yarns with fiber content like linen, silk or cotton and plied yarns work best - it features a lot of mesh and yarn overs, also on the edges.
