When I first learned about entrelac, I thought it would make a fun skirt. But when I searched for patterns, I only found blogs where people claimed such a pattern couldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) be done. So, I immediately set out to design my own and created this breezy springtime skirt with three shades of green.

The skirt is worked in the round from the top down. It’s entrelac, so it still requires a lot of turning, but working in the round means you don’t have to knit those pesky half rectangles at the edge of every other row, and you don’t have to sew any seams. The waistband is done in twisted ribbing, and the transition from ribbing to entrelac automatically creates hip shaping. A larger needle size is used for the last few entrelac sections, which adds a nice flair to the bottom edge.

Size
XS, S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X

Gauge
26 sts/36 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch with smaller needles.
One entrelac rectangle is 3 inches from corner to corner with smaller needles.
