The Green Vine Shawl begins at one tip and is shaped by increasing along one side until you reach the full width. Then, you decrease back down to the opposite tip, creating a lovely symmetrical triangle.

The lace pattern is easy and fun to knit, featuring simple yarn overs and decreases. The sample uses a skein of fingering-weight yarn, but the shawl can also be made with a thicker or thinner yarn, or with a skein that has more yardage, since the pattern is completely adjustable.

The pattern includes both charts and fully written instructions throughout, so you can choose your preferred method.

YARN
Fingering weight yarn, approximate amount:

This shawl is designed to use up almost a full skein of fingering-weight yarn, but pattern is adjustable to suit the yardage you have available. I strongly recommend weighing your yarn before you begin. By the end of Section 2 (Chart 2), you should have used slightly less than 50% of the total yarn weight to ensure that you have enough yarn to complete the pattern.

NEEDLES
US 6 (4 mm) circular needles.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle and blocking tools (optional).

GAUGE
15 sts and 23 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Green Vine Stitch Pattern (page 3), flat on US 6 (4 mm) needles, after blocking.
Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and final size of the shawl.
