Greenbriar is a simple cardigan featuring a shaped lace panel with leaves that travel from the neckline, down the center of the body, and then taper away at the small of the back. It’s knit seamlessly from the top down and uses contiguous shaping at the shoulders. The collar is picked up last and knit on.

Green Mountain Spinnery’s Mewesic yarn is a beautiful tweed with subtle flecks of color that is just gorgeous in cables and lace - although in stockinette, the shades and texture of the tweed shine as well! With that in mind, Greenbriar features both. Outside the back panel, details are simple (for some easy knitting and versatile wardrobe options). And the lace is easier to work than you’d think, since the stems and leaves are bold - making errors easy to spot. The sweater is finished off with deep ribbings and a little transition at center back.

I suggest the size that gives you 2-3” of ease, based on your bust size. That said, this is a style that works in a more fitted silhouette if desired. Buttons can also be added to the front for a less casual look, and the collar can be knit deeper or narrower if desired. Thoughts on modifications, including length and width are easy and included in the pattern notes.

Also, hugs and thank yous to Erin, and her adorable daughters Louisa and Geneva for the photo shoot! You can see more of the front view of the sweater in the test knits, but E was herding her little one in these and I missed the shot due to much cuteness. It was worth it. I love how Lou is peeking around her mom’s skirt in one of the images…
