A textured, unisex hat that works up quickly and is fairly simple, with knit and purl stitches for texture and SKYP stitch mock cables. It is worked in the round, bottom up, with both charted and written instructions.

Written for an adult-sized head, but pattern is fairly stretchy. As written, is on the looser end -- size needles down if you wish to have a more snug-fitting hat, have a smaller head, or tend to knit loosely.

Yarn:
Suggested: dk or worsted weight, approx 200 yards
Pictured: Berocco Ultra Alpaca Natural in Rye
Hat will work look with solid or semi-solid yarns.

Needles:
US size 6 (4 mm) 32” circular needles for magic
loop, or size required to obtain gauge
Note: I used size 6 needles for a looser hat. This
would work just fine with size 5 needles as well.

Gauge:
1 pattern repeat = 5.6” (14 cm) wide
31 st & 36 rows in 4x4” (10x10 cm) in pattern
24 st & 32 rows in 4x4 (10x10 cm) in stockinette

Finished Measurements:
Hat measures 16” (40.5 cm) circumference at
brim, 8” (20 cm) tall with brim folded
Hat here is modeled on a 22” head, but will fit
heads 21” to 24.5”
