This pattern has been years in the making.

Originally I designed this giraffe for my wonderful friend and colleague, the lady that taught me how to crochet. Giraffes are her favourite animal, so of course I said I would make her one when I had the time.

Then she fell ill.

I dropped everything I was doing and made her a giraffe. I happened to write down what I’d done, and thus, the pattern for gregory was born!

She absolutely loved it, and it brightened up a very dark time in her life. I’m so grateful my friend is still around today and every time I look at Gregory I am reminded of her strength and motivation. She motivates me to keep doing this crochet thing every day!

And so I felt it only fair to share the pattern that means the most to me!

Gregory is a beginner-intermediate pattern with helpful how-to pictures along the way. If you do get stuck, drop me a message and I’ll do what I can to help!

The pattern suggests a 3.5mm hook and Scheepjes Softfun dk yarn. You can make it with whatever yarn you like and an appropriate hook size, but you may end up with a smaller or larger giraffe than the example one.
The example giraffe sits at approximately 10 inches high to the top of his horns.

Makers should have some knowledge of working in the round, changing colour in the round, increase and decrease stitches and should be familiar with UK terms.
