Greg's Favorite Vest
This is a classic, button down the front men’s vest.
The body of the garment is knitted in worsted weight yarn, flat, in one piece, from front edge to front edge to the armholes, then in separate sections from armhole to neckline.
The Vest is knit starting with a provisional cast-on, with hem band, armhole and neck bands knit onto garment with a three needle bind-off after body is knitted. The bind-off is knitted to the outside to form a decorative ridge.
Garment is available in 8 sizes, from 38” to 52”, to fit chest measurement of 36” to 50”, with 2” of positive ease.
Needles:
US6/4mm 29”/32” circular (for picking up stitches at edges of vest)
US7/4.5mm 32” circular for hem and neck bands, and 16” or double points for armhole bands
US8/5mm 29”/32” for body of vest and edges of ribbed bands
or size to obtain gauge
Gauge: in Seeded Rib Pattern
18 stitches/4” and 26 rows/4”

1020 (1040, 1060, 1080, 1100, 1120, 1140, 1160) yards
The sample vest is knitted with Creskeld Wensleydale Longwool.
Smooth yarn for provisional crochet cast-on.

5-7 buttons, depending on size of button and length of vest
Optional: ½”-3/4” wide grosgrain ribbon, to use as reinforcement when setting buttons
