Gremblin is a big, cozy, long scarf with a pointy hood. The tails have plenty of length for wrapping up in, and the hood looks nice up or down.

It’s very cozy, and knits up in garter stitch in medium-weight yarn—use the pure wool shown in the sample, or go for something a little softer.

Materials:

  • 651-700yds of worsted-weight yarn; sample shown in Patons Classic Wool in black.
  • one 24”+ circular needle in US7/4.5mm, or size needed for gauge, used to work flat
  • removable stitch markers
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • smooth scrap yarn for provisional crochet cast-on
  • crochet hook, size F/3.75mm or size suited to yarn
  • spare DPN in size needed for gauge, or close

Gauge:
Gauge is 17 sts and 28 rows over 4”/10cm of moderately blocked garter stitch, worked flat. Please be sure to check your gauge.

Measurements:
This scarf is massive—about 80”/2m long overall. The hood is 14”/36 across the top, including point, and about 10”/25cm across when measured flat across.
