One of my most beloved shawls to date, soft as a summer breeze with interesting texture and many options as to size and shape. I have wanted to make a LotR themed shawl inspired by the Elven Grey Havens for many years…

It starts at the back of the neck with a chain of 8 and grows into several distinct sections: The Harbor, The Sea, and finally you reach the White Shores. All Sections are variable in size, as is the length of the starting chain. Directions are provided after the main pattern for widening the shawl into a crescent shape.

You could use 2 colors as I did for my model, or go with a variety of colors, or a single color - or a gradient would be lovely.

West of the Shire, past the Blue Mountains, the River Lhún flows into the Gulf and the Grey Havens look to the Sea.
Leave the western shores of Middle-Earth - as the gulls cry overhead –
And sail through the bay over ever-widening long waves.
The gulls fly above to show the way, and Middle-Earth passes to memory…
Until at last the grey rain-curtain rolls back, revealing white shores, and beyond a far green country under a swift sunrise…
