Grocery Getter—fingering
The Grocery Getter—fingering
The Grocery Getter is a pattern born out of appreciation. I needed a gift for my lovely coworkers for Christmas, 2024. I best show my love and appreciation through the things that I make. It needed to be something I could knit quickly and would be a smart gift for anyone. A bag you can use for most things was perfect, and I use mine for daily grocery getting.
Method
The Grocery Getter is worked holding three strands of fingering yarn together from the bottom up. The bottom of the bag is worked using DPNs and stockinette stitch. The bag’s mesh body is then worked using a circular needle and a two-stitch repeat which creates the swirling net. The strap is made using DPNs by making 3 i-cords at the same time starting on one side of the bag’s rim, braiding them, then attaching to the other side using Kitchener stitch.
Size
One size, but suggestions for making a bigger bag are noted throughout.
Measurements
90 cm x 40 cm (35.5 in x 16 in) unblocked and unstretched
