Groton is knit in-the-round from the bottom up and consists of two-by-two ribbing at the brim coupled with stockinette stitch and an intuitive fair isle pattern. Instructions for the fair isle pattern are both written and charted. You may alter the height of the hat by working more or less additional rounds after completing the fair isle section and prior to working the crown shaping. The Pom Pom is optional, but I really like how it “finishes” the hat.

Please be sure to check out the kits for this hat here. Marian has put together some fabulous color combinations and there will be more to come in the following weeks.
