This pattern was originally published in issue 10 of Laine Magazine.

The pattern is available in English and Finnish.

Grounded is a modern interpretation of a traditional triangle shawl. Two triangles are knitted from the bottom up and joined at the top using 3-needle bind-off to create an exposed shoulder seam. The stitches for the collar are later picked up to create a ribbed turtleneck collar.

The sections are designed in high-contrast texture and colour blocks. The pullover style requires no pins or gadgets to keep it from shifting. It can be worn alone, under or over a jacket. Because Grounded fits like a modern mini poncho, we decided to call it a ponchette.

After wearing (and loving) my #groundedponchette for a year, I reimagined this design as a full-sized poncho. Rather than modifying the pattern, I changed the gauge by using worsted weight yarn. Because this pattern is knit from the bottom up, it is entirely flexible. You can knit it in ANY yarn weight and fiber and make it as large or small as you want! I wanted my poncho to cover my elbows and booty, so I kept going until it did just that. Details of my pattern hack are included in the pattern.
