This pattern was initially designed for the 2026 Chicago Yarn Crawl. It will be free until August 9.

The theme for the Yarn Crawl was a celebration of 100 Years of Route 66. We chose Wooldreamers 90 Varas for our project because the sheep that made it are experienced travelers.

90 Varas is sourced from Spanish flocks that still travel the ancient drove roads following the rhythm of the seasons. Flocks that move, that graze, that care for the land without even knowing it, simply because it is their way of life.

The name 90 Varas refers to the traditional width of these historic routes which is about 75 meters wide, the width that guarantees passage for full flocks to journey across the country.

The pattern uses three colors, so you need three skeins. I’ve also included a pattern for a hat which will use your leftovers.
