Summary: Guernsey Gals was originally published in Knitter’s Magazine 48, Fall 1997. The sweater is constructed in four pieces, then seamed together…unlike traditional guernseys which are knit in the round. There is also a companion pattern for men and boys using similar yarn and design, Guernsey Guys.

Additional Gauge Information: The pattern says to measure gauge over Charts A and B. However, in the 2003 edition of this book, there are no charts for this pattern labeled “A” and “B”. This volunteer editor believes that the gauge was intended to be worked over the 15 stitch repeat labeled, “Chart for Body/Sleeve” on page 77. ed. note: in the original magazine version, Chart A is a cable rib chart, and Chart B is a textured stitch.

From Kathy Zimmerman’s Pattern Description: To my mind a classic represents the best of old and new. These pullovers are inspired by the distinctive style and simplicity of Scottish fisherman ganseys. Reminiscent of those telltale samplers with brocade-like stitchwork, this design features all-over vertical textured patterns.
