Each design I make reflects some element of the natural world that calls to my heart. Listening to gulls call over water is music.

Two worsted weight, high-contrast yarns work well for this pattern, but I held two strands of sport weight together for the sample. Yardage is listed for total. For 18” hat, you will need minimum 100 yards of background color, 90 yards for contrast color. For 22” hat, you will need minimum 120 yards of background color, 105 yards for contrast.

Test knitter suggestions: If you are a looser colorwork knitter, feel free to size down from US8 to US7 needle, as the gauge change will not affect the fit of the hat enough to make a big difference.

Each design I publish will donate 10% of proceeds to Tree Sisters for global tree planting, and two organizations that clean plastic from waterways.

If you are interested in being part of a team of makers to sell the hats online for the mission of environmental restoration, please contact me. The pattern will be free to you.
