Hail Spot is a sleeveless, vintage-styled, yoked baby dress that can be worn alone or as a pinafore. It features a faux under-layer of contrasting lace, a welt on the hem and purl stitches scattered around to give the effect of hail spots.

Hail Spot is a seamless knit worked from the bottom up.

The booties feature the same textured spots in the foot, and lace “socks” in a contrasting colour. They are knitted in the round with only one seam, along the base of the foot.

The pattern is for use with fingering weight yarn and fits from birth to 3 months. The pattern is fully written out, with an optional chart provided for the lace edging. Detailed instructions and a schematic diagram are included and all measurements are given in both metric and imperial.

The featured garment was knitted in Brooklyn Tweed Peerie fingering weight yarn (210 yards/192m per 50g/1.76 ounces ball). 2 balls of the main colour and 1 ball of the contrast is sufficient to knit both the dress and the booties.
