Hairst means Autumn in Scots, the collective name for Scottish dialects which are spoken in the Shetland Isles. The stitch patterns for this cowl are traditional Fair Isle Perrie patterns found in many Fair Isle garments.

For the pattern you will need approx 150m of yarn. I chose to use 4 colours and therefore used approx15g of each colour, but you can choose to use as many (or as few) DK weight yarns as you would like. It is a great stashbuster.

If you would like your cowl a little looser then add in an extra multiple of 6 stitches when you cast on.
