Cosy cowl with extra warmth and style, thanks to the wrap around half-body design. Can be worn with left or right side open.

As a guide, the sizes are designed to fit:

S (UK 8-10 or 32-34” chest),
M (UK 10-12 or 34-36” chest) and
L (UK 12-14 or 36-38” chest).

However, the open side (and the stretchy nature of fabric) will accommodate several inches larger than quoted.

YOU WILL NEED 700 (800, 900) m chunky yarn, 6.00 mm hook, 3 stitch markers (optional) and a needle for neatening the ends.

GAUGE

10sts to 10cm (4”) across initial foundation half treble (US half double crochet).

10sts and 8 rows to 10 cm (4”) across the htr sections of the pattern.

Notes:

I work quite loosely so you may need a larger hook than I used to obtain gauge.

The neckline begins with a foundation half treble (US foundation half double crochet). Instructions for which can be found here

Uses lower back loop (image included) for first round to obtain top stitched look.

Remaining rows are worked in back loop.

Chunky yarn means that this works up in an evening.

Pattern is written in UK terms with a table of US equivalents provided for reference. There are only a few different names in this one - see images for screenshot of the abbreviations used.
