Half Moon Bay
Inspired by sun, sea, and just enough yarn. This shawl was born on vacation from two small balls of yarn, endless sunshine (and a nasty sunburn I got after the first day on the beach), and the determination to make something beautiful out of what I had at hand. The result is Half Moon Bay: a shawl that captures the contrast of deep ocean water and golden sunlight. A true stash-buster story with a stunning result - proof that constraints can be the best design tool!
This shawl only takes 150 g/ 600 m of fingering-weight yarn in two colors. I used Malabrigo sock yarn - 50 g of blue and 100 g of yellow. The shawl isn’t very large - 50 cm drop with 150 cm wingspan; but because it is more than half a circle, it drapes around shoulders beautifully.
This pattern is mostly charted (aran with increases/decreases and lace). Intermediate knitting skill level required.
