The Halfway Fair sweater is a modern take on classic fair isle design, knit in the round from the top down. Both the alternating vertical lines and the humble attempt to work in a style even partially resembling the fair isle style inspired its name.

Finished chest circumference by size
32, 36 (40, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60) inches
82, 92 (102, 112, 122) (132, 142, 153) cm
This sweater is intended to be worn with approx.
4-10”/10-25.5 cm positive ease.

MC: 310, 350 (400, 460, 500) (570, 620, 650) g,
765, 860 (985, 1130, 1230) (1400, 1525, 1600) yards, or
695, 785 (895, 1030, 1120) (1275, 1390, 1455) meters

CCs: Amount given is a total - if using multiple contrasting colors, divide the total by the number of cc to calculate the amount needed of each.

245, 270 (315, 360, 380) (450, 495, 515) g,
270, 295 (345, 395, 420) (490, 540, 565) yards, or
110, 120 (140, 160, 170) (200, 220, 230) meters

The sample was made using Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted for the Main Color in Fleece and using a Woolstok Bundle in Fire & Ice for the Contrast Colors. Charts are provided for the use of 1 or 7 contrasting colors, but any number may be easily substituted by evenly distributing your desired number of colors across the rows of colorwork.

MC - Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Worsted, 50 g skeins
7, 7 (8, 10, 10) (12, 13, 14) skeins

CC - Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Bundle, 21 5g skeins*
1, 1 (2, 2, 2) (3, 3, 3) bundles of mini skeins

For sizes 3 and up, it can become more cost effective to purchase a 50g woolstok worsted skein of each color instead of multiple bundles of minis. You’ll have lots left over, but will get more yarn for the same price!

Suggested Needles:
Main Body:
US 6 / 4.0 mm - 32-40” circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting on the sleeves (DPNs or circulars for magic loop)
Ribbing:
US 4 / 3.5 mm - 32-40” circular and preferred needles for small circumference knitting on the sleeves (DPNs or circulars for magic loop)
These needles sizes are a starting place - use the needle size you need to achieve gage for the main body, and go down 2 sizes for the ribbing.

Guage:
Using Main Body Needle size, 24 stitches in 28 rows/rounds in stockinette, blocked, creates a 4” square.
