Halifax is a rhombus-shaped baby blanket with a diamond brocade pattern. It is made with incredibly soft bulky weight cotton, and the bumpy texture is showcased beautifully on such a simple fabric.

The colourway of Sprout I chose is called Summer Rain and when I saw that it immediately reminded me of my blustery home.

I think the Sprout creates the perfect amount of coziness and drape, but the pattern is highly adaptable if you have another preference.

The pattern as written makes a blanket about 3 feet by 3 feet, but you can easily make it smaller or larger if that’s your preference.

Gauge isn’t critical for this pattern, so don’t worry too much if you’re only a stitch or two off - just knit the increase chart until your sides are about three feet long, then begin decreasing.

Materials:

  • 5 skeins of Sprout or the same amount of a similar yarn. I had very little of the Sprout left when I finished my blanket.

  • US 10 circular needle - at least 36”

  • Tapestry Needle
